    Items to Bring to Camp

    Items to Bring to Camp

Your child will need to bring the following items from home:

    • A backpack or bag for swim clothes on days when there are field trips to beaches or pools
    • Tennis shoes for gym and outside play; black-soled shoes are not allowed in the Dakotah! Sport and Fitness Gym; open toed shoes and sandals or shoes that slip on and off are not recommended for field trips and outside play
    • Children must have socks to play in the indoor playground
    • It is a good idea to keep a complete set of extra clothing at Playworks in a backpack in your child’s locker in case your child has a mishap and needs to change

We would like to remind you that the most valuable learning activities are sometimes messy. We recommend that you take this into consideration when dressing your child for the day.

Please make sure everything you bring to Playworks is labeled with your child’s first and last name.

    Spending Money

    Spending Money

Your child may bring spending money to the Atrium for the arcade and food at Playworks Café. Food cannot be brought back to the classroom. Children will be responsible for their own money. Playworks is not responsible for any lost or stolen money. Your child will be asked to keep prizes from the Playworks Atrium redemption counter in their locker.

Your child may bring spending money on field trips. Admission cost is paid by Playworks, so spending money is optional. We recommend no more than $5, and that you discuss spending rules with your child.

Items Not to Bring to Camp

Items Not to Bring to Camp

Our policy requires that items such as toys, movies, tablets, iPods, trading cards, candy, and gum be kept at home to prevent any problems that might occur.

If a device is brought in, it will be kept in a secure basket at the Playworks LINK Event Center front desk and returned to the student’s parent/guardian at the end of that day. Every group leader and bus driver has a phone to use if a parent/guardian needs to talk with their child.

Any weapons or items that can be used as a weapon are strictly forbidden at Playworks and on Playworks buses. These items are subject to the Playworks Director’s discretion. Possession of these items will result in immediate termination from Playworks.

Toy swords, knives, squirt guns, and other toy guns are not allowed.

    Exclusion from Field Trips

    Exclusion from Field Trips

Children may be excluded from field trips if their behavior creates a safety issue. Families will be notified in advance and a conference with the Summer Camp Manager will be set up if a child is going to be excluded from a field trip due to behavior. If a parent requests that their child does not participate in a field trip, the child will then join another group of children who are staying at Playworks for the day.

    Alternative Field Trips

    Alternative Field Trips

The following is a list of activities that may be substituted for a field trip that has been canceled due to weather or other circumstances:

    Medication

    Medication

All medication brought to Playworks needs to be in its original prescription bottle, have a current date, and be accompanied by a completed medication permission form. This form must contain a parent signature. Over the counter, non-prescription medication is not permitted unless prescribed by a physician and accompanied by a physician-signed medication permission form. Please note that all medication needs to be turned in to teachers and stored in a locked medication box.

    Bug Spray

    Bug Spray

If you wish to provide bug spray for your child, label the container with your child’s first and last name and give it to your child’s teacher. A topical permission form must be filled out before teachers can apply bug spray. Playworks teachers will assist children in applying bug spray.

    Sign In & Out

    Sign In & Out

It is necessary for parents to sign in and sign out on the computer with your parent badge each day. Let teachers know that you have arrived and use this time to inform them of any special instructions concerning your child (i.e., medication, special pick-up instructions, etc.). Please be sure to always escort your child up and down the stairs to the classroom. For safety reasons, do not allow your child to run.

    Sunscreen Recommendations

    Sunscreen Recommendations

Summer Camp teachers will help children apply sunscreen before leaving on a field trip and again every two hours during outdoor trips. If your child burns easily, we recommend that you apply sunscreen at home so that you are sure they have adequate coverage. Children are required to wear their field trip t-shirts when they are swimming to protect them from too much sun exposure. A cap or visor, along with a water bottle, is also a great way to protect your child from the sun and heat.

You may bring in your own sunscreen in a zip-close bag with your child’s name on it. Aerosol sunscreen is prohibited, and students cannot share sunscreen.

    Social Media

    Social Media

Any inappropriate social media post inside Playworks will be handled by the Director. Playworks is not responsible for social media posts made outside of Playworks.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT – From day one I have loved my daughter's daycare. All of her "teachers" have been wonderful people who genuinely want to see my child excel. Being a first time parent, there were many areas that I was clueless in, but my daughter's teachers were always willing to answer questions (since they were Moms, too). My daughter was a preemie and was slower in some of her physical developments, and they worked with her every day. Though we have moved out of Prior Lake, we drive her to day care rather than finding a new place. She loves it too much for us to take that away.”

Had a great time. We had a 7, 6, 4, and 1 year old, and they all had a great time. Good place to bring your kids to get energy out in the winter!”

The teachers here are amazing and love them like they are family. We couldn't ask for a better place to help raise our kids.”
